It is told by ancestors, the inhabitants forced out of Kuraparthi hamlet after an attack from local muslim rulers. They created a new hamlet 'Kuraparthi' near Talakona (50 km from Tirupati), the place where we belong. It is a custom to do pooja on marriages (Veerudu pooja) to remember those who sacrificed their lives during the fight.
An idol of Durga was found in a pond Aretamma Kunta near Kuraparthi Panchayat. The Kuraparthi family patronized and constructed the Aretamma Temple around 17th century.
Kuraparthi Family served as dharmakarta (trustee) for the famed Shiva temple in Talakona for a long time. Now it is under the care of Sri Kalahasti Temple.
Kuraparthi Family were land lords and hereditary tax/ revenue collectors.
